Microneedling
What is microneedling?
Microneedling is a procedure where a licensed professional uses a special tool that looks like a pen, to provide micro-injuries to your skin with extremely small needles. The microneedling device will slowly and gently run back and forth over your face.
What is microneedling?
Microneedling devices are clinically shown to safely and effectively treat facial acne scars, pore size, wrinkles and more.
With as few as three non-invasive and affordable treatments spaced 30 days apart, you can improve your appearance and step out with confidence.
How does microneedling work?
Microneedling is one of the most effective methods of skin rejuvenation available, industry wide.
Our estheticians use a precise microneedling device to create a series of micro-punctures within the skin’s surface, along the desired treatment area. These controlled micro-injuries are specifically designed to stimulate the body’s own naturally regenerative processes.
When your tissue is injured, your body sends a signal to stimulate the natural wound-healing process, to restore and rejuvenate any damaged tissue.
Microneedling uses the same concept to treat issues like wrinkles, unwanted blemishes, skin discolorations, scar tissue, and more.
Microneedling relies on a 3-phase process our body uses to repair and rejuvenate itself when injured.
Phase I: Inflammation
When the skin is pierced and damaged, the immune system is triggered to act immediately. It works to disinfect the wound, remove any debris, increase blood flow to the area, and stimulate cellular regeneration to create new tissue.
Phase 2: Proliferation
Cellular regeneration helps rebuild the tissue in the area, using new granulation cells – a vital part of the extracellular matrix. In addition, brand new blood vessels begin to develop to improve circulation and tissue proliferation.
Phase 3: Remodeling
The wounded or damaged skin tissue is completely replaced by freshly created skin tissue and new blood vessels.
During this skin cell regeneration process, any unwanted blemishes, wrinkles, scars and otherwise damaged skin tissue is resurfaced away and replaced with fresh, youthful skin cells. These new skin cells are far softer and more supple.
In addition, the process of Microneedling is known to stimulate the production of fresh collagen, a vital skincare protein that begins to dissipate as we age, giving our skin the added volume and fullness, we tend to lose.
Who is a good candidate for microneedling?
Almost anyone in good health is a good candidate for microneedling. If you are in the middle of a severe acne breakout, microneedling could cause worse breakouts. Talk to your dermatologist about the best next step in your skincare.
You should also steer clear of microneedling if you’ve had keloids in the past, are pregnant, or are taking certain medications. Always check with your dermatologist first.
Are there any side effects to microneedling?
Your esthetician will most likely apply a numbing cream to your face before your procedure to alleviate any potential pain you might experience during. In the first 24 hours after your first microneedling procedure, you might have some redness, dryness, or irritation. It should alleviate within 48-hours.
