Platelet Rich Plasma
What is PRP/PRF?
Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) is an all natural way to enhance features on the face and rejuvenate the skin. At Profile Aesthetics, we use a medical grade centrifuge allowing us to collect highly concentrated platelets. While most med spas are able to get your platelets 2X as concentrated, this medical grade machine allows us to harvest platelets that are up to 10X as concentrated creating a more powerful result.
Once deployed, these platelets release LARGE doses of healing and regenerative growth factors responsible for attracting microphages, mesenchymal stem cells, and osteoblasts that are critical for tissue regeneration (collagen, elastic, and fibrin), the creation of new blood flow, and increased lymphatic drainage.
By employing advanced preparation techniques, we are capable of producing PRF which provides temporary fullness and acts as a “time release capsule” allowing the platelets to release their growth factors for an extended period of time. This is what we use for our signature PRP Lift full face treatment.
How does PRP and PRF work?
Upon platelet activation, inflammation (phase 1) starts, this is the phase when growth factors are release.
Once inflammation occurs, and the growth factors are released, the influx of fibroblasts go to the site of inflammation and begin proliferation (phase 2). It is a phase of the healing process and can last for weeks to months. It is during this phase that fibroblasts differentiate, and neo-vascularization (new blood flow) occurs.
Remodeling (phase 3) is when the newly laid collagen matures and strengthens and the results become noticeable to the client. This can take 3-6 weeks to begin and lasts several months with annual maintenance recommended.
What can PRP/PRF treatments help with?
Platelet rich plasma treatments are helpful to treat several conditions, including:
- wrinkling skin around the eyes
- bags and dark circles under eyes
- cheeks, mid face (malar pads, temporal area)
- neck
- jaw line (jowls) and other sagging skin
- peri-auricular area
- chest and décolletage
- back of hands and arms

- to stimulate hair growth on scalp
- mixed with Sculptra for our signature PlasmaSculpt treatment
Are PRP/PRF treatments safe?
PRP’s safety has been established over 20 years and its proven effectiveness has extended across multiple medical specialties.
The natural acceleration of patient healing achieved with PRP has proven to be inherently safe because it is derived from the patient’s own blood at the time of treatment and eliminates concern of disease transfer.
Due to the presence of white blood cells, PRP grafts are bactericidal, especially against Staph and E-coli.
What is Dr. PRP?
Most PRP systems found in medical spas typically yield approximately 2 times the baseline platelet levels, which may not deliver the optimal results expected from PRP treatments.
Research indicates that for clinical effectiveness, the concentration of platelets should ideally be between 5 to 7 times the normal platelet count. The Dr. PRP kit features an innovative tube design specifically engineered to meet and exceed these criteria, achieving up to 10 times your baseline platelet level.
We have chosen to invest in the Dr. PRP system to guarantee that you achieve results at the peak of their potential.
What is a PRP/PRF treatment like?
We will draw 20 cc of the patients own blood into a syringe, then centrifuge it, to separate its components. We will then inject your Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) back into the desired areas. The full procedure takes about 45 minutes to 1 hour.
We advise 1-3 treatments, depending upon the desired outcome of the patient. Your treatments will occur once every 4–12-weeks. Touch up or maintenance visits may occur once a year, after the initial treatment plan is complete. This will help to maintain your results.
